Not All Tissues Are Flushable
Flushing the wrong type of tissue is one of the most common causes of clogged toilets, and many people don’t realize that what feels like “just tissue” might not break down the way toilet paper should. At Carie Pluz, we’re here to help you understand the difference — and save your plumbing.

Whether a tissue is flushable depends on its specific purpose.
Flushable: toilet tissue — soft and made to dissolve quickly in water, but keep in mind that it also depends on the brand you are using
Not flushable: facial tissue, pop-up napkin, multi-purpose tissue, hand towel — thicker and made to hold up during use which also means they don’t break down easily in your pipes
A 10-Second Test: Is Your Tissue Toilet-Safe?

1.Fill up some water in a bottle.
2.Drop in 0.5 meters or 2-3 sheets of the tissue, depending on the type.
3.Swirl the bottle for 5-10 seconds.
4.If the tissue breaks down easily, it’s safe to flush.
5.If it stays mostly intact or feels stiff, throw it in the trash instead.
